Red, White & Zoo

Sometimes it seems like the Nashville Zoo has so many after-hours food and drink events that it makes you wonder when they have time to feed the animals. Not that I’m mad about it. It’s not cheap to maintain a world-class zoo, so it’s understandable that they need a lot of fundraisers. Their next big event is Red, White & Zoo, a gala tasting event on Friday, July 30, from 6:30 until 10:30 p.m.

The evening will feature multiple tasting stations sampling wine, beer and other beverages from local vendors, plus food trucks and live music spread out around the walking path. Some of the animal habitats will be open during Red, White & Zoo, so guests will get to see them and their nocturnal activities. The animal exhibits will close at various times throughout the evening to give the critters some beauty rest.

The Nashville Zoo staff has undertaken several procedures to try to ensure the safest environment possible, including a one-way path and staggered entry. It may be hot that night, so pace yourself so you don’t also have a staggered exit.

Among the 30-plus participating vendors will be brewery favorites like Blackstone Brewing Company, East Nashville Beer Works, Nashville Brewing Co. and Tailgate Brewery, as well as beloved food truck vendors Grilled Cheeserie, Il Forno Wood-Fired Pizza and Pinchy’s Lobster Co.

Ride sharing is encouraged, but parking at Nashville Zoo will be free starting at 6 p.m. If you end up leaving your car overnight, which may well be a good idea, it must be removed from the Zoo between 6 and 10 a.m. the next morning, or your car will be towed. Get your tickets now at the event website.
