Enjoy Some Roasted Bivalves at Henrietta Red

If you’re a fan of oysters, then hopefully you’ve already dined at Henrietta Red in Germantown, where chef Julia Sullivan offers the best selection of oysters from around the country and prepares them with finesse. But not every oyster needs a piquant mignonette; sometimes you just want to light an open fire and roast them up by the bushel.

And that’s exactly what Sullivan and her crew plan to do from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, as part of their third-annual oyster roast. First of all, yeah, they know Oct. 14 is the same weekend as the Oktoberfest festivities in Germantown, and that total gridlock is to be expected. They plan to offer a Lyft discount code to Oyster Roast ticketholders to help facilitate ingress and egress among the teeming masses of revelers.

They promise it’ll be worth the hassles, with a menu of both raw and cooked oysters, sausages, porchetta and roasted ham from Bare Bones Butcher, beverages from Cathead Vodka and Blackberry Farm Brewery, and live music provided by esteemed local soul rockers Alanna Royale. There will be plenty of other options for food and drink at the event, including vegetarian options.

The party will take place in the lovely courtyard next to Henrietta Red, and you can buy your tickets in advance for an evening of fun, food and drink at the event website.
