We ask a lot of the restaurants in Nashville. Dine Nashville takes up most of February with special interactive and collaboration dinners, plus a Restaurant Week of prix fixe options. Here at the Scene, we showcase local restaurants through the very popular Hot Chicken/Burger/Pizza/Taco Week promotions, but we all know that the restaurants work extremely hard during those weeks to keep up with the influx of customers. Then there’s the Music City Food & Wine Festival, which is going on right now and features dozens of your favorite local restaurants putting on special dinners and participating in other ways. For all of this, we should be very grateful!
Thankfully, there seems to be no limit to the largesse of Nashville restaurants, notably independent restaurants in particular. That’s why so many of them have again agreed to step up to the plate to support the 24th year of Dining Out for Life, a major fundraiser for the critical work of Nashville Cares and their efforts to offer LGBTQ health care assistance to Middle Tennesseans.
The event will primarily fall on Thursday, April 30, when restaurants all over town will donate a percentage of their sales directly to Cares. The list of participants also indicates which meals are being offered and how much each restaurant is contributing. Thanks to all who stepped up, and particular love for D’Andrews Bakery & Cafe, Frankie J’s, International Market, and The Lipstick Lounge/Chapstick — those establishments are donating 100 percent of their receipts to Cares during DOFL.
Lipstick/Chapstick is not participating on April 30, but is reprising its popular DOFL Brunch on Sunday, May 3. Jackalope is participating with some special hours of happiness on Wednesday, April 29, from 6 until 9 p.m., and Miel has chosen Tuesday, April 28, as its DOFL night. So between those three special dates plus breakfast, lunch and dinner on April 30, that’s six different times you can be a part of Dining Out for Life.
Visit the DOFL website and start plotting your plan ASAP!
