The Corner Pub, a small locally owned bar and restaurant chain, is planning to open a location on Fifth Avenue North downtown. The pub is the first retail tenant in the Metro Development and Housing Agency's new Fifth Avenue of the Arts Garage, my Nashville Post colleague William Williams reports.
Founded in 2006, the Corner Pub has locations in Brentwood, Bellevue and Mt. Juliet. It closed a Midtown location last year.
Jeff Rippy, president of Restaurant Investment Properties Inc., which owns and operates the Corner Pub, says he hopes for a fall opening for the “full-service, family-friendly neighborhood restaurant.” He also owns Rippy's on Lower Broadway.
The MDHA's retail and garage building is located at147 Fifth Ave. N. near the southwest corner of Fifth and Church Street. It opened for parking late last year, with 1,010 spaces, available around the clock.
The Nashville Downtown Partnership is helping MDHA find tenants to fill out the building's retail space.
Jim Harbison, MDHA executive director, said a goal of the project was to “help connect the Arts District with the activity on Broadway.”
