We’ve written about Bar Alliance Nashville before in these (web) pages. Matt Buttel and Freddy Schwenk’s business of providing quality mixers and artistic ice to high-end bars and restaurants has been growing cube by cube, expanding into Memphis, Chattanooga and Knoxville from their home base here in Music City. The talented duo moved into a new space to accommodate the machines needed to produce and cut what they call “sexy ice,” and the demand for their fresh-squeezed juices, custom syrups and cocktail mixes was growing at a remarkable rate.
And then, all this [gestures at everything] happened. Undeterred, Buttel and Schwenk are still providing ingredients to some of their restaurant clients who are adding drink delivery and carryout options to their food offering. But now they're reaching out to the consumer market with a new service in which they will deliver pre-made craft-cocktail mixes directly to your house. That way all you have to do is add a full 750-milliliter bottle of booze to the pre-measured mix. According to Buttel, the mixes stay fresh for up to 10 days, so you won’t have to hurt yourself by plowing through 19 margaritas in just a couple of sittings. The mixes are also fine to freeze for up to two months.
The program has been a hit so far, and Bar Alliance Nashville has managed to keep five of its employees working through this obviously tough time for the hospitality industry. In addition to their “Quartamargaritas,” BAN is also offering Strawberry Rhubarb Lemonade and a Honey Peach Arnold Palmer Kit, both of which would work with pretty much any clear spirit. (Except maybe Aquavit, because that would be eww!) Each kit comes with cocktail ice and garnish, so all you have to supply is glassware and booze.
