615 Day

I’m gonna be honest with y’all. I’m not a huge fan of manufactured holidays like May 4 as Star Wars Day ("May the Fourth be with you") or Pie Day on March 14 (3/14) or National [fill in the blank with a random food or drink item] Day. Heck, according to PR reps and clickbait calendars, we have two National Doughnut Days, both a National and an International Waffle Day, plus a traditional and an observed National Lobster Day. Root beer and root beer floats each get their own day, as do peanut butter, peanut butter lovers and PB&J sandwiches. Chocolate and dark chocolate get separate days, and the most bizarre oddity to me is that there are both a World Chocolate Day and an International Chocolate Day, as if there are some international destinations that love chocolate that are somehow not part of this world.

So, yeah … no. I don’t usually play in that marketing sandbox.

Assembly Food Hall

However, if it’s hyperlocal — and I can get some good deals on food from a bunch of my favorite local restaurants in one place that’s about two blocks from a bus stop — color me intrigued.

Enter the 615 Day specials at Assembly Food Hall at Fifth + Broad. June 15 is more than just a day to celebrate Nashville and our area code; it’s also Father’s Day this year! Wouldn’t it be nice to take Dad out to lunch at a place where he could pick what he really wants to eat and drink while the rest of the family can make their own choices? And wouldn’t it be even better if you could save some money while you do exactly that?

That’s your opportunity this year thanks to a slate of special meal deals from the denizens of Assembly Food Hall. Almost two dozen restaurants and bars are serving up regular menu items and special dishes for just $6.15 on June 15, and Fifth + Broad is offering parking in their cavernous (literally) parking garage for $6.15 an hour — not exactly cheap but still a substantial discount over regular rates.

Among the $6.15 bargain deals that have caught my eye are two chicken sliders at Prince’s Hot Chicken, a totcho smash burger topped with beer cheese and tater tots from The Pharmacy Burger, DeSano’s two meatballs and focaccia deal, chicken fried rice from Thai Esane, a Nashville Sunset Waffle topped with whipped honey-bourbon lemon cream from The Liege Waffle Co. and a pecan Old Fashioned at all the food hall’s bars. There are plenty of other deals to pick from, so be sure to do a little recon before you jump on the first offer you see on June 15.

Now, keep in mind that some of these deals might not come with a side dish, but for the price, go ahead and spring for an order of fries for Pop on his special day!
