Dana updated us last week about
the progress being made to reopen the Market House at the Farmers' Market in the aftermath of the May Day flooding. Unfortunately,
a few vendors including Swett's Restaurant decided that they couldn't afford the delay or the expenseto wait until the anticipated early August reopening date. While I can't blame them, I do applaud the tenacity of B&C BBQ to find a solution until their old space is available again.
Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., B&C is selling from under a tented area in front of the entrance to the Market House. Serving hot pulled pork and barbecue chicken that has been cooked at their Melrose location as well as brisket on Tuesday and Friday, B&C recognizes that there are a bunch of hungry folks visiting the Farmers' Market in search of heirlooms and greens. And these folks aren't going to get fed on the incense, fake Vuarnets and Tupac tribute T-shirts being sold in the other shed, so I'm glad that B&C has stepped up. Drop by for lunch sometime soon and thank them for their persistence in the face of bureaucratic obstacles.
