Tim-Easton

Prolific songsmith Tim Easton has been traveling widely since he was a small child, but he’s made Nashville his home base for well over a decade and become an integral part of East Nashville’s music community. His 14th studio LP fIREHORSE, released in February, achieves a contemplative feel even when discussing heavy topics — as in my favorite cut “Don’t Let Your Mind Grow Dark,” a grooving upbeat blues shuffle about not letting the bastards snuff out your light and stop you from doing what good you can. Easton calls on an array of friends and collaborators to bring this vision to life on the LP, and he’s sharing the spotlight with many of them during the release celebration residency he kicked off Feb. 26 at City Winery’s Lounge space, which continues on Thursdays through March 19. On March 5, the guest lineup includes fIREHORSE producer and songwriter Kevin Nolan alongside Kara Cole and Laurel Lewis; Lewis returns March 12 along with Darrin Bradbury. Meanwhile, East Side fixture Brian Wright and songsmith (and Scene contributor) JP Olsen join in the final show in the run on March 19.

7 p.m. March 5, 12 and 19 at the Lounge at City Winery

609 Lafayette St.
