Many of the bills that make their way through the Tennessee General Assembly are passed along party lines, but one piece of legislation that received unanimous support from both the House and Senate was the Voyeurism Victims Act. The legislation was signed into law in the spring and expands legal protections for victims of unlawful photography by extending the statute of limitations. The change largely came in part from advocacy by a group of Nashville women who discovered the same man had secretly recorded them while engaging in sexual acts. (Disclosure: The bill was co-sponsored by Rep. Bob Freeman, who is the owner of the Scene.)
