Alabama-born singer-songwriter Jon Byrd covers a lot of territory during his weekly residencies at Music City venues Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge (on Tuesdays) and Springwater (on Thursdays). Byrd’s own tunes are reason enough to get out in the early evening, but he dips into his deep songbag of country classics by the likes of Dallas Frazier and Gram Parsons, to boot. He plays pleasingly idiosyncratic rhythm guitar, and he sings in a tenor voice that evokes the glory days of Parsons himself.
