So, Bro: SoBro Fest Tonight at The Entrepreneur Center

SoBro Fest

When: 6-10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18

Where: The Entrepreneur Center

Technology has done us a lot of good, from inventing safer, more environmentally friendly cars to granting us instant access to basically every song ever written. Yet the tech industry is still consistently criticized for being overrun by entitled monsters whose egos and money have chased all the heart and soul out of cities like San Francisco and Seattle. (Remember the rich start-up dude who ranted about San Francisco’s homeless people and not-attractive-enough women? Fuck that dude.)

So when Nashville’s own Entrepreneur Center announced the first SoBro Fest — a night of food, beer, games, live music and a “start-up village” — my mind started to race. Will it be all the shitty aspects of tech culture crammed into the equivalent of a few city blocks, where a bunch of egomaniacal dudes get drunk and aggressively compare venture capital numbers? Or will it be a fun celebration of innovation that connects and inspires people from the local growing tech scene? Let’s hope for the latter.
