Metalhead
When: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27
Where: The Stone Fox
The folks at The Stone Fox know the absence of The Belcourt is hitting Nashvillians hard, so in an effort to alleviate the pain, they’re hosting a movie night featuring Ragnar Bragason’s Icelandic film Metalhead. Metalhead, which was “inspired by the Norwegian black metal church burnings in the early 1990s,” tells the story of a young woman named Hera, who’s left to maneuver adolescence while also mourning the tragic death of her metal-loving older brother. It’s in his memory that she burns her floral-patterned past and embraces a life of corpse paint, guitar riffs and rebellion, while a soundtrack featuring Riot, Teaze, Lizzy Borden and Megadeth plays on.
The movie starts at 7:30 p.m., and music from Nashville’s own metalheads Ascent of Everest and Vile Desecration follows at 9 p.m. — the $8 admission buys you a ticket to both. (Plus, you get free popcorn when you buy a Black Abbey beer.) Watch the trailer after the jump.
