Pictures From Last Night's Opening of High Class Hillbilly

What I imagine the closets of The Outsiders looked like.

Last night was the grand opening of Nikki Lane's new vintage shop High Class Hillbilly. (

Read Patrick's pick on it here.

) Given my recent heartbreak over the announcement that Libby Callaway was closing her excellent Diamond Star Halo shop (where I've scored Christian Dior blazers and silk shirts to match my obsession with Denise Huxtable fashion), I figured I should stop by to check it out.

The store is tucked near the back of a lot off Woodland Street in East Nashville, sort of across the street from The Edgefield. It took me an embarrassing number of drive-bys before I finally found it, but there's a chance that's because I never know where the hell I am anyway. I spoke with Lane about the shop, which is going to be open every day and is seriously packed with great vintage finds that she's scored while on tour. (Side note: I also found out that she headed the first ACNE shop in New York. For those who don't know about the line, it's a Swedish label — ACNE stands for Ambition to Create Novel Expressions — whose claim-to-fame is starting the high-waisted jeans trend. I'm kind of a geek for this label and their publication, Acne Paper, and Lane's familiarity with the line, paired with her ability to find stuff that is much, much cheaper, gives her immediate credibility in my book.)

I took a few shots of my favorite pieces in the shop. You can check them out after the jump.
