Parnassus Book Club: The Yonahlossee Riding Camp for Girls and Author Event With Anton DiSclafani

Where: Parnassus Books

Think of it as a literary palate cleanser served up by the restaurant’s head chef. Anton DiSclafani’s debut novel The Yonahlossee Riding Camp for Girls is everything Twilight and other YA romances wish they were: sexy, suspenseful and set amid secrets that grab at your attention like a playful friend tapping your shoulder only to disappear before you have a chance to turn around.

It’s also this month’s book club offering from Parnassus, and moderator Kathy Schultenover is leading a discussion that’s free and open to anyone today and Wednesday. But then on Thursday, July 17, the author herself will be there to join in on the book club and a discussion of the book The New York Times called “this summer’s first romantic page turner” in its 2013 review. Ask her how she writes narratives about horse riding in the Great Depression so well.

Watch the book trailer for The Yonahlossee Riding Camp for Girls after the jump.
