[Quincy Jones' The Italian Job score plays]
"We’ve hatched a plan. From the ritzy Riviera to the Windy City, the crew’s all here … the heist is on!"
That's the setup for the Belcourt Theatre's upcoming, freshly announced Heist! Series, set to go down from Sept. 3 through Oct. 10 at the beloved Hillsboro Village arthouse.
Belcourt programmers Toby Leonard and Zack Hall put together an exceptional array of heist and heist-adjacent films, from the iconic and essential (The Italian Job, Rififi, Dog Day Afternoon) to the quirky (The Lady Killers, Bottle Rocket) and the modern blockbuster (Inception, Widows, Hustlers). The series will also feature some unexpected gems, like Studio Ghibli mastermind Hayao Miyazaki's animated 1979 debut The Castle of Cagliostro.
Full series passes for Heist! are $112 apiece, or $80 for Belcourt members. See the full list of titles below, and watch the series trailer — cut together by Hall — below that. Visit the Belcourt's site for tickets and further info.
And remember — you're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!
