Corporate Juggernaut Presents Pictures of Fireworks, Tonight at Fido

I spend a lot of time on this blog praising the work of Corporate Juggernaut,

that has been booking shows locally at High Watt and elsewhere for a minute now. So much so that I half expect a JEFF-style comment backlash like you read about on

. But, just like JEFF, I promise that as soon as the Juggerlos stop booking cool stuff, I'll stop drowning them in digital ink.

Fortunately for us, it doesn't look like they'll be letting up anytime soon.

The latest cool thing by Corporate Juggernaut debuts tonight at Fido: a storytelling show called Pictures of Fireworks. Hosted by comedian/author/rad lady Jane Borden, Pictures of Fireworks is a monthly storytelling show in the vein of existing shows like The Moth. Here's the pitch:

Pictures of Fireworks is a monthly night of storytelling that showcases a combination of Nashville's best comedians and authors, its most interesting residents and characters, and you. Half of the tales are told by performers or locals who are curated in advance; the other half come from audience members, who can drop their names in a hat at the start of the show. Pictures of Fireworks is dedicated to finding the funniest, most compelling, touching, and outrageous tales in Nashville. All that's required from each teller is honesty. Share your darkest secrets. Express the momentous or mundane. Your tales only need to be true, and to have a beginning, middle, and end. (Booked tellers get 8 minutes; audience members have 4. No scripts allowed, you fraidy cat.)

Y'all don't even know how long I've been waiting for something like this to sprout up in Nashville. I've been a big fan of story shows like The Moth and

since college, not just because of the content but because of the awesome meritocracy at work. It doesn't matter who you are or who you know, as long as you've got a good story, you can have your 15 minutes (or, in this case, four minutes).

In this inaugural edition of Pictures of Fireworks, the curated storytellers include divinity school student Dani Folds, comedian James Austin Johnson, local renaissance man Brandon Jazz and the Scene's own Laura Hutson. The show starts at 8 p.m., but you may want to get there a bit early if you want to put your name in the hat.
