Faithful gallery crawlers have their finger on the pulse of the comings and goings of gallery spaces in the downtown Arcade. An ever-changing landscape, it’s good to see spaces opening instead of closing in the midst of a sketchy economy. Space 64-A has been a bit of a Gallery Crawl mystery over the past months; the small space has been open and displaying work, but it hasn't always been clear that the gallery is an extension of LeQuire's Charlotte Avenue venue. This month, they make it official, participating in the Gallery Crawl as well as the Art After Hours events. The intimate space is currently showing work by Chris Cheney, whose painted wood panels manage to be both funky and folksy, presenting stylized characters in narratives that veer from timely to timeless.
