Every year around this time, I aspire to purchase thoughtful holiday gifts that support artists and artisans. Sure, some people on my list end up with a last-minute gift card. (If the holiday season teaches me anything year after year, it’s that gift-giving perfection is unattainable.) But for now, I am filled with a renewed vigor, and my first stop will be Art for the Naughty and Nice at Modfellows Art & Design Gallery. The monthlong art sale will feature works from a host of artists, including illustrators Kami Baergen and Mark Allen Miller, textile artist Pamela Taylor and maker of creatures (in mask, painting, illustration and sculpture forms) Nathaniel Covington. Expect bold contemporary works with an edge. Opening reception 6 p.m. at Modfellows Art & Design Gallery, 3655 Trousdale Drive; Sale through Jan. 4 ERICA CICCARONE
