Wade Bowen w/Caroline Spence

The Nashville and Texas country music scenes are often viewed as being closed off from one another, but Red Dirt favorite Wade Bowen jumped the proverbial border to create his seventh solo album, Solid Ground. Bowen made his name in the sweaty dance halls of the Lone Star State, fusing warm, smoky vocals and an organic twang-rock sound to lyrics that often run as deep as the Rio Grande. But in recording what he describes as a love letter to his home state — filled with vivid tales of Mexican border towns, ballads about leaving Austin’s party scene and much more — the Waco native somewhat ironically chose East Nashville as the setting. Solid Ground has a Feb. 9 release date, and on Feb. 10, Bowen will bring it home to Music City’s 3rd & Lindsley — along with a big bag of road-tested favorites that go back more than 15 years. Nashville’s Caroline Spence will open. CHRIS PARTON
