For a Jewish guy from New Jersey, Jon Solomon is really into Christmas. Since 1988, the college-radio mensch and owner-operator of indie label Comedy Minus One has nobly crusaded against ho-hum holiday music with his annual 25-hour program on WPRB out of Princeton, N.J. Solomon’s playlists draw upon an ever-expanding bank of thousands of deep-cut Christmas covers and originals, many of which are made for the express purpose of airing on the show by people in his sizable Rolodex of underground musicians and bands.
