Timmy's Organism w/Safety Net, Patti & Schizos

Age has not mellowed Michigan’s Timmy Vulgar. Though he’s been releasing records consistently for 15 years, he’s never dulled his blade, always keeping his sound heavy and nasty. With its latest slab of filthy, Rust Belt psych-punk, Timmy’s Organism — Vulgar’s band since 2010 — shows no interest in turning down the antagonistic noise. Survival of the Fiendish is an ugly 10-track album of brilliantly crafted songs fueled by blown-out distortion and Captain Beefheart-esque weirdness. Brooklyn’s Patti has an eclectic post-punk skronk sound with lots of angular rhythms. Fresh locals Safety Net are a band to catch — the trio is a far-out blend of Wire and Hawkwind, played over Sisters of Mercy beats. Opening up will be the assaulting, contemptful punk of Schizos, which is remeniscent of early East Coast hardcore like The Untouchables, The Nihilistics or Heart Attack. 7 p.m. at Drkmttr, 1111 Dickerson Pike P.J.
