Shueh-li Ong is a Nashville-based songwriter, composer, producer, synthesist, and world-renown thereminist.
On the 4th August show, Shueh-li Ong will unveil a multi-movement piece written for theremin, extended synth techniques and the tin whistle, produced to address her favorite genres to play; where themes will warp and weft through fusion, prog-rock, electronica, and esoteric soundscapes to tell a story.
Shueh-li has produced 4 albums to date, and her performances on the theremin (an instrument played without contact but with precision finger movements in the air) has also appeared on an indie sci-fi film, a contemporary classical work, and several prog-rock albums.
Shueh-li's music bears elements of her training in classical and electronic music, and her Australian-Singaporean heritage, and those familiar with her musical offerings know they can look forward to a show that will be entertaining.
Making a guest appearance at this year’s “Shueh-li Presents in Nashville” is local space-music pioneer, Tony Gerber, who has produced several recordings, along with music for video games, films, and planetarium shows.
“Shueh-li Presents in Nashville” is an annual program hosted by the Steinway Piano Gallery.
