Nasty will be nice and Millennium Repertory Company will be ogre-the-moon when the Wee Actors Guild present their production of Shrek The Musical JR. beginning May 19th. The Wee Actors Guild consists of performers ages 4-12. This family-friendly musical comedy follows the adventures of an ogre named Shrek (James Goldston) who has learned the hard way that “people hate the things they cannot understand.” For many years he has protected himself from the hurtful actions of those who are scared of him by living as a recluse in a cozy cesspit. One day, his peaceful swamp is disturbed by new tenants: fairytale misfits — including Pinocchio (Rebecca Thomas), the Ugly Duckling (Lucy Smith), the Wicked Witch (Jaxen Waggoner), Peter Pan (Eliza Griffey), Mama Bear (Brylee Haithcock), Papa Bear (Denzel Galindo), Baby Bear (Lily Hummel), Gingy (Loralei Petty), the Three Pigs (Abby Hummel, Branham Freeze & Jack Sherrill) and the Big Bad Wolf (Trey Elgouhary) — have been banished there by the villainous Lord Farquaad (Dimitri Sherrill). In order to gain back his land, Shrek makes a deal with Farquaad to rescue the feisty princess Fiona (Alyssa Freeze) from a tower guarded by a fierce dragon. Setting off with his faithful companion, Donkey (Bella Harris), Shrek begins the journey of a lifetime filled with adventure, romance, and hilarity.
The Wee Actors Guild will present Shrek The Musical JR. on May 19-28. Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm. Sundays at 2:00 pm at the Manchester Arts Center at 128 E. Main Street, Manchester, TN 37355.
