The Head and the Heart w/Forlorn Strangers

The Head and the Heart are perfect for a place like Cumberland Caverns — just imagining their folky harmonies bouncing off the cave walls makes me feel all ooey-gooey inside. Call me basic, but I’d pay just to hear them perform “Rivers and Roads” from their 2009 self-titled album inside the cavern — it’s a song with such simple, relatable lyrics that I think most people would have a hard time not connecting with them: “Nothing is as it has been / And I miss your face like hell / And I guess it’s just as well / But I miss your face like hell.” Ever felt that? Who hasn’t? Seems worth the hour-and-a-half drive out to McMinnville to me. Nashville’s Forlorn Strangers — who have similarly straightforward Americana sensibilities — will also play. The show appears to be sold out, but who knows — maybe you can find a friendly stranger who still hasn’t found someone to take their spare ticket. AMANDA HAGGARD
