This entry in the ongoing Boom Bap series — a recurring dance party and DJ showcase — will bring DJ Excel to Exit/In, where the Philadelphia-raised, Los Angeles-based artist promises to treat Nashville to a hearty mix of electronic dance, hip-hop and soul-shaking bass. A DJ since he was 11, Excel has a catalog of mixes and production that shows off his ear for dance-floor-friendly beats, and his sets cover everything from classic and contemporary hip-hop to disco and trance. He’s got a talent for precise record-scratching and turntable stunts, doing justice to his hometown’s own legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff — who also helmed a Boom Bap show in 2018. Resident DJs Bowls, Rate and Case Bloom will also hold it down. Hip-hop started with a couple of record players, some loud-ass speakers and a party, and in that sense The Boom Bap is keeping the culture and its spirit alive and well. 9 p.m. at Exit/In, 2208 Elliston Place ALEJANDRO RAMIREZ
