Yes, indie-pop duo Tegan and Sara’s high-energy performances will make you shake yo’ ass, but their onstage banter has come to be just as beloved as their hook-filled songs. Between tunes, the sisters often partake in playful bickering and tell heartfelt and humorous stories about their lives on and off the road. They’ve been performing together since the mid-’90s, and even when transitioning from harmony-heavy acoustic songs to synth-bolstered power pop, they’ve managed to cultivate and preserve an environment that feels less like a concert and more like a party where you’re dancing and hanging out with your best pals. Tuesday’s performance at the CMA Theater at the Country Music Hall of Fame will be even more intimate than usual: The sold-out show will be one part author event as they celebrate their new book High School (a joint memoir about growing up as queer teenagers in the ’90s), and one part concert. Along with the memoir, Tegan and Sara also released a new album, Hey, I’m Just Like You, which is inspired by old cassette recordings they uncovered while digging through their archives. It’ll be a side of Tegan and Sara you’ve never seen before, even if you’ve been with them since the beginning. And if you couldn’t score a ticket to the show, head over to the duo’s author event at Parnassus Books earlier in the day — each ticket admits one person and comes with a signed copy of High School, plus a photo opp. Author event 12:30 p.m. at Parnassus Books, 390 Hillsboro Pike; show 8 p.m. at the Country Music Hall of Fame’s CMA Theater, 224 Fifth Ave. S.
