From the time of his arrival in Nashville in the mid-’80s, Radney Foster has had a foot in two worlds. As half of Foster & Lloyd, he crafted engaging country songs that mixed perfectly with Bill Lloyd’s power-pop inclinations. As a solo artist, he has crafted one album after another that combine traditional country elements with literate sensibilities. A bout of pneumonia and laryngitis in late 2015 opened another avenue for creative expression — he began writing prose during the weeks of doctor-imposed silence. The result was his new album/short story collection combo, For You to See the Stars. Saturday at City Winery, Foster will deliver a special performance of stories told through both prose and songs.
