Guitarist and singer-songwriter Peter Mayer is set to perform at City Winery for the first time on Tuesday, April 25. The Nashville musician, best known as the lead guitarist for Jimmy Buffett, will perform with his band the Peter Mayer Group.
Mayer’s professional career began in 1988 when he was signed to Warner Brothers Records with his band, PM. With the help of famed producer Elliott Scheiner (Steely Dan, Aretha Franklin, Bruce Hornsby), PM’s single “Piece of Paradise” charted to number eight on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary. Mayer joined Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band in 1988, a position that he holds to this day. As a result, Mayer has performed on 28 sold-out tours and four gold albums as Buffett’s lead guitarist.
The Peter Mayer Group performance at City Winery will highlight Mayer’s signature sound, featuring rock, jazz, country rock and classical influences that audiences have come to know from his electrifying performances. The band also includes Chris Walters on piano (Bela Fleck, Alabama, J.D. Souther), singer-songwriter Brendan Mayer (Mailboat Records), Zeb Briskovich (Clark Terry, Grady Tate, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra) on bass and Miles Vandiver (Tom Kennedy, Ray Kennedy, Brian Owens) on drums.
Peter Mayer and the Peter Mayer Group will play at City Winery (609 Lafayette St., Nashville, Tenn. 37203) on Tuesday, April 25. The doors open at 6 p.m., and the show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at https://www.citywinery.com/nashville/ or at the door.
