One of our favorite stories of the last couple of years is the time that Russell Brothers landed a plane on its belly at the closed Cornelia Fort Airpark. He was nowhere to be found after the impromptu crash landing, raising a lot of questions.

Well, those questions became an indictment for guns and obstruction of justice when the feds showed up and searched his house in Burns.

The case quietly ended on Friday when Judge William Haynes sentenced Brothers to 15 months in prison in a 12-minute hearing. Brothers told media in October that he was pleading guilty to avoid dying in prison.

As for the plane? The 1961 Beechcraft 2-engine 10-seater is still registered to Brothers.
