Post Politics breaks the news that Nate Rau, who has been covering Metro government for The City Paper, leaves his SouthComm perch today for a reporting gig at The Tennessean. Rau tells Pith he's eager for the opportunity to cover state politics, not just the city, and to get some experience at a metropolitan daily.
Certainly it's hard for a young journalist to resist such a move (even with Gannett involved), but we have noticed in recent years that talented reporters have been more likely to depart 1100 Broadway than arrive. So we asked Rau if he's bucking a trend. "I talked to people to do my due diligence," Rau replies, "and I found that reporters who are there now like their jobs."
(And yes, we have noticed the media incestuousness of the blog for one paper pointing to a blog for another outlet owned by the same company in a item about a guy leaving a third outlet owned by the same company.)
