Haslam Outrages Right Wing by Opposing Anti-Refugee Resolution

Gov. Bill Haslam’s opposition to that demagogic anti-refugee resolution—coupled with his impending endorsement of Marco Rubio for president—has whipped his party's wingnuts into paroxysms of fury, and they’ve planted a doozy of a story with Breitbart News to retaliate.

Typically, Breitbart turned it all into a sinister conspiracy with Haslam ordering House Speaker Beth Harwell to bury the Senate-passed resolution just before he endorses Rubio because—of course!— Rubio sponsored that Gang of Eight pro-amnesty immigration bill in 2013, and he loves immigrants.

Breitbart’s sources? Various unidentified people, plus former state Rep. Joe Carr, a Ted Cruz guy who’s never heard a conspiracy theory he didn’t believe.

Haslam has made no secret of his dislike for the two other GOP Presidential contenders, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.

“The timing of Governor Haslam’s response correlated with the probable endorsement of Rubio is more than just ironic,” former State Rep. Joe Carr tells Breitbart News.

Much is made of Harwell’s assigning the resolution to two committees in the House. That’s not an unusual practice. Even so, if Haslam and Harwell are trying to beat this resolution, that’s good news. The lawsuit it’s urging is a pointless waste of money since, as all but GOP hardliners recognize, the Obama administration already is providing sufficient information about refugees resettling in this state and they aren't terrorists in disguise.
