Friday Fiction: An Eerie Tale of the Hermitage Hooters

I wrote a book, A City of Ghosts, which is a collection of short stories about the ghosts Nashville should have. This being October, and these being ghost stories, we thought we'd experiment with running a story from the book each Friday night leading up to Halloween.

This first story I'd like to share with you guys is called "The Broken Mirror" and it's about a ghostly Hooters girl. I have been in Hooters only a handful of times in my life, but one time I was there with a couple of drunken assholes who spent the whole time complaining about how our waitress was probably a lesbian because she wasn't as nice to them as they thought she should be. Later, one of our friends went to work for Hooters — the Hooters in Hermitage, where this story takes place — and I thought, "Man, wouldn't it be awesome if those women had just a little something extra on their side when having to deal with the jerks?"

In this story, they do.
