One of Bud Adams' heirs figures in the area's biggest home sales for March

5017 High Valley Drive

As winter melts into spring, buyers of high-dollar homes are no different than the rest of us. They all want to spend more time outside, as this month's list indicates.

Several of the luxury homes promise "outdoor living space," replete with high-end pools and fireplaces on porches. Among the folks looking for a little room to stretch their legs after a winter indoors: the heir to Bud Adams, a few doctors and a couple of financial advisers.

While Nashville and Williamson County ZIP codes typically dominate our monthly look-around, we've become used to a few forays into the outlying counties. While this month's list is almost exclusively Nashville — or more specifically, Brentwood, which comes in several times (on both sides of OHB) — there's a rare entry from Humphreys County.

As always, these are the Top 10 homes in Davidson and nearby counties sold in March, ranked by price:

1. 30 Bancroft Place, Nashville, 37215

Buyer: Jeffrey Mobley, trustee for 30 Bancroft Place Trust

Sale price: $5 million

Sellers: Joseph C. and Phran Galante

Sellers' agent: Steve G. Fridrich, Fridrich and Clark Realty

Buyer's agents: Tim King and Richard B. French, French King Fine Properties

Former Sony Music Group chairman Joe Galante sells this Forest Hills retreat to an unknown buyer. The home includes a tennis court and infinity-edge pool in its "outdoor living space," which complements the 11,000 square feet of indoor living space. The home sits on 5.6 acres, and in a bit of contradictory design, the house features "natural exotic wood" but also has "native stone."

2. 3019 Flagstone Court, Franklin, 37069

Buyer: Lawson H. Hardwick III

Sale price: $2.61 million

Sellers: Wesley E. and Sharon Campbell

Sellers' agents: Gary Ashton and Paula Piskie, The Ashton Real Estate Group of RE/MAX Elite

Buyer's agent: Judy Williams, Crye-Leike Realtors

Churchill Mortgage founder Hardwick — he's better known as "Mike" than as Lawson, the name he shares with his father, the founder of Nashville's Christ Church — parlays that Dave Ramsey Show endorsement into this massive 15,500-square-foot home on 8.5 private acres near Franklin. This one also promises "outdoor living space": salt-water pool, basketball court, hot tub and a baker's dozen of porches.

There is no mortgage on file for the property, FYI.

3. 551 Brown Hollow Lane, Waverly, 37185

Buyer: Pig Pig LLC

Sale price: $3.225 million

Seller: Orrin H. Ingram

Seller's agent: W. Mike Jones, Jones Properties

Buyer's agent: Unknown

Even the helpful staff at the Humphreys County Register of Deeds office had a chuckle of disbelief at the identity of the buyer — "Pig Pig. That's P-I-G-P-I-G. Two words." Usually an LLC or a trust provides a level of anonymity, as regular readers of Headline Homes have learned, but in this case, the buyer did little to disguise himself. The registered agent of Pig Pig LLC is Kenneth S. Adams IV, grandson of the late Bud Adams.

The Titans' part owner picked up 700 acres, inaccessible by public roads, in rural Humphreys County. The property includes three managed lakes, a game-cleaning station, a manager's home, guest quarters and a 4,500-square-foot main house.

The seller, Orrin Ingram, is the CEO of Ingram Industries and chairman of Ingram Barge. He is also a former member of the U.S. polo team and past chairman of the U.S. Polo Association. He and his wife are also the long-rumored sellers of their Franklin home to Johnny Depp. (Note: They have not sold their home to Johnny Depp.)

4. 2616 Belmont Blvd., Nashville, 37212

Buyer: Eric Klindt

Sale price: $2.15 million

Seller: Dreaminc

Seller's agent: Barbara Moutenot, Village Real Estate Services

Buyer's agent: Ravi Sachan, Reliant Realty

This Mission-influenced home built in 1933 was recently renovated and expanded and now has "modern conveniences" to go with its "period fixtures." The add-ons include a pool, screened-in porch, elevator and expanded garage. Klindt is a financial adviser at Merrill Lynch.

5 (tie). 823 Windstone Blvd., Brentwood, 37027

Sale price: $1.8 million

Sellers' and buyer's agent: Sherry Erickson, Southern Land Company

This home in the gated Windstone is a pre-sale custom, and it's unclear who exactly owns it. Eric and Susan Cullison bought the land for $188,500 back in 2013 and filed a notice of completion in 2014. The home was finished this year and is listed as a March 30 sale, but no paperwork has been filed. It could be a quirk of the listing system, and it's reasonable to think that the Cullisons did buy the home once it was finished. In any event, the 5,500-square-footer has a main-level master suite, private office, gourmet kitchen, keeping room and a fireplace on the porch.

5 (tie). 100 Woodward Hills Place, Brentwood, 37027

Buyers: Todd A. and Rachelle J. Sorensen

Sale price: $1.8 million

Sellers: James R. and Alexandra Hendricks

Sellers' agent: Mary A. Kocina, Fridrich and Clark Realty

Buyers' agent: Vivian Armstrong, RE/MAX Elite

There was a lease and lease-purchase option on this house, but ultimately it was bought by the Sorensens — he's a managing director at VMG Health. The house has six bedrooms, four fireplaces, imported marble tile, a billiards room and a wine room. The Hendrickses are both dentists.

7. 5017 High Valley Drive, Brentwood, 37027

Buyers: David L. and Rita B. Solomon

Sale price: $1.7 million

Sellers: Mark O. and Lisa J. Neal

Sellers' agent: Guy A. Richie, Worth Properties

Buyers' agent: Molly Edmonson, Fridrich and Clark Realty

Stop looking. The competition is over. This home has the "best kitchen in Nashville," according to its listing. Anselm of Canterbury said this kitchen was "that than which no greater kitchen can be conceived" and therefore it must exist in reality, even though the listing agent provided no other details beyond that it's the best in Nashville, even though it has a Brentwood address. David Solomon is the managing director of Meritage Funds, a growth equity firm. The Solomons sold their Chickering Lane home for a shade under $3 million in July to Joe Davis, the mayor's brother-in-law.

8. 4918 Maymanor Circle, Nashville, 37205

Buyers: Russell and Kathryn C. Reeder

Sale price: $1.555 million

Sellers: J. Duffy and Wendy E. Mocco

Sellers' agent: Trish Woolwine, Fridrich and Clark Realty

Buyers' agent: Steve G. Fridrich, Fridrich and Clark Realty

Sitting on the crown of tony Hill Place, this home has a new kitchen and open floor plan throughout its more than 7,000 square feet.

9. 9253 Carrisbrook Lane, Brentwood, 37027

Buyers: Kent K. and Elizabeth Barron Higdon

Sale price: $1,493,500

Sellers: Stan L. and Angela J. Pope

Sellers' agents: Fiona Parish King and Steve Townes, Worth Properties

Buyers' agent: Stephanie Lowe, The Wilson Group

More outdoor living here, with the seemingly ubiquitous fireplace on the porch. Inside, this home has a limestone fireplace and heart-pine floors. Buyer Kent Higdon is a plastic surgeon. Elizabeth Higdon is a nurse practioner. Seller Stan Pope is a radiologist.

10. 4 Missionary Drive, Brentwood, 37027

Buyers: Jeon and Jin H. Sim

Sale price: $1.47 million

Seller: Renee A. Kessler

Seller's agents: Nathan Matwijec and Mary Stinson, Zeitlin and Company

Buyers' agent: Kim Song, Benchmark Realty

This month's list wraps up with, yes, another home touting its outdoor living. On one of the rare large and flat lots in the Governor's Club, this home has front and back views of the golf course, a wine closet, a theater room and four-car garage (though the listing notes that the fourth car must be either a golf cart or "economy vehicle"). Seller Kessler is the former COO of Saint Thomas Midtown (née Baptist Hospital). She has since taken a job with Cambridge Health Alliance in Massachusetts.
