Making a Murderer's Dean Strang and Jerry Buting to Bring 'A Conversation on Justice' to TPAC

The recent debut of the Netflix series Making a Murderer cast what was already a controversial case — the murder trial of previously wrongly convicted Wisconsonian Steven Avery — into the national spotlight. Much of the attention landed on Avery's defense attorneys, Dean Strang and Jerry Buting, who have since become the subjects of interviews and profiles and Valentine's Day cards and, yes, Tumblr fashion blogs. #StrangCore.

Today, Strang and Buting announced a speaking tour — titled A Conversation on Justice — that will take them all over North America, and among the dates is a Nashville stop at TPAC's Andrew Jackson Hall. From a press release:

Strang and Buting’s multi-city speaking tour, which starts April 16th at Berklee Theater in Boston and hits cities across the U.S. and Canada through mid-August, will involve the two attorneys in conversation about the Steven Avery case and its broader implications, as well as a discussion on the larger topic of the American criminal justice system. Each night will also feature a Q&A portion and the opportunity for the audience to address questions directly to Dean Strang and Jerry Buting.

A Q&A portion, eh? That means law fans can ask the two attorneys about whether or not ours is a system slanted against the poor and disenfranchised, or about the appeal process as it applies directly to the Avery case, or … you know, which flip-phone case looks best on a braided leather belt.

Tickets for A Conversation on Justice will be available this Friday, March 4, at noon via this link
