Ah yes, the first pangs of autumn are in the air. There's a nip in the air, the sweaters have been removed from storage and the pumpkin spice jokes are already stale. It can only mean one thing — time to start working on our year-end lists. No, seriously, I shit you not, those of us "in the biz" start contemplating what we loved most all year. So far my list is short — it's basically Carly Rae Jepsen, Baroness and the former SteelDrivers singer on this installment of NPR's Tiny Desk series: Chris Stapleton.
And I'm not the only Stapleton supporter that's started making lists. Last week the dude was nominated for three CMA Awards, including "Best New Artist," "Male Vocalist of the Year" and "Album of the Year" for his debut solo album Traveller, all of which are tough to argue with.* I mean, the dude's voice is like sonic butter. He deserves all of the awards. That and he's a super nice dude with lots of insightful things to say. Anyway, Stapleton and his wife Morgane turn in a a gorgeous, intimate performance that you can watch after the jump.
*Mark this down. It may be the first and last time Maloney and the CMAs are on the same page. If the earth opens up and swallows the entire music industry whole, this is the likely culprit.
