The recent armed robberies at Holland House and Pied Piper Eatery in East Nashville have been a major topic of conversation on Bites.
Now a new robbery in another neighborhood, at the McDonald's on Brick Church Pike, has yielded three arrests. Certain similarities in the way the crime was committed have led to hopes that the arrests will also eventually close the book on the East Nashville cases.
James Nix, who covers the police beat for the Scene's sister publication, The City Paper, reports that the three suspects in the McDonald's case allegedly fired at least one shot to intimidate the 15 or so people in the restaurant at the time.
Police wouldn't say whether they think the McDonald's case and East Nashville cases are linked. But they said the M.O. was similar.
"Lt. Danny Driskell told reporters the method of operation used by the McDonald’s suspects fits the same style used by the suspects in other recent robberies," Nix reports. "That style involved an aggressive, hostile takeover during which the suspects ordered people around and, in some cases, shoved victims."
Kevin Brame, 24, Rashawn Campbell, 23, and Andrew Siner, 19, are each currently charged with four counts of aggravated robbery and one count of attempted aggravated robbery in the McDonald’s case.
Police say the men may be responsible for at least 17 fast-food restaurant robberies across Nashville since Aug. 29. They say they are continuing to investigate the Holland House robbery and other recent robberies to determine how many crimes the three suspects might be involved in.
