Spanish Gold, South of Nowhere

Spanish Gold

is the partially local outfit featuring My Morning Jacket's Patrick Hallahan, City and Colour's Dante Schwebel and Brownout's Adrian Quesada, and on Tuesday, they'll release their debut LP South of Nowhere. (They'll also play Grimey's on Memorial Day, so if you don't have any Monday plans, do that.) The album was recorded with Collin Dupuis at Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound, and speaking of Auerbach, there is definitely some Black Keys-esque guitar phrasing here, bolstered by big fat bass lines and Hallahan's tight drumming. Pretty cool stuff. Stream the entire record above.

Natalie Prass, "Goodbye Goodbye"

Local songstress Natalie Prass is currently touring as a member of Jenny Lewis' backing band, so we may not see much of her around these parts for the rest of the year. Nevertheless,

Prass dropped a note

to let us know her record will be out this fall, and she has a little taste of it right now via NoiseTrade — an understated bedroom-pop number by the name of "Goodbye Goodbye." Hear it above or

download it via NT

Sherbert, "Heavy Metal & GBV" and "Bigger Than This"

Lo-fi punk-popstress Michelle Sullivan is back with two new jams from her outfit Sherbert, and I very much approve of the things these songs reference: Guided by Voices, heavy metal and the Nashville Scene. Short, sweet bursts of power-pop that showcase Sullivan's marked improvement as a songwriter in recent months. Sullivan tells us that Sherbert's "Heavy Metal & GBV" 7-inches will be out June 10, when they start their tour with Paul Collins Beat (cool!). PCB and Sherbs will hit The 5 Spot June 26. Stream both tunes above or purchase them via

Sherbert's Bandcamp page

Easton Stagger Phillips, Resolution Road

So, this is one-third local. Easton Stagger Phillips is local dude Tim Easton's collab with Canadian Leeroy Stagger and Alaskan Evan Phillips, and this week they released a folk-rooted LP by the name of Resolution Road. Definitely recommended for fans of Ryan Adams, Wilco, Brendan Benson and the like. Stream the album above, or purchase it over at
