Promised Land Sound, "Fadin' Fast"

You've heard

plenty from us

about local rootsy bar-rockin' outfit Promised Land Sound (formerly just Promised Land). You know that we've compared them to Faces, Flying Burrito Brothers, The Band, Badfinger and CCR, and you know that their eponymous debut LP (co-produced by William Tyler, The Bomb Shelter's Andrija Tokic and The Ettes' Jem Cohen) is out Sept. 24 via Paradise of Bachelors. But do you want to hear the first single from said long-player? It's called "Fadin' Fast," and it features contributions from Tyler himself, not to mention graceful swaths of steel and the sort of Southern, down-tempo wistfulness that PLS has really been honing over the past year or so. Hear it above or via

Soundcloud

, and pre-order Promised Land Sound

Pale Houses, Pale Houses

Who here recalls Imaginary Baseball League, Emery Reel, The Charter Oak and Mercator? Old-school (i.e., roughly a decade old) Murfreesboro-bred, emotive indie rock. Well, dudes from all of those acts have gotten together to form a band called Pale Houses, and they've just unleashed their debut EP. It's rich on lush sounds, clean production, big melodies and feelings. Stay tuned for more on these guys. Stream Pale Houses above, or download it for any price you like at

Pale Houses' Bandcamp page

.

Jeffery Drag Records, Summer Sampler 2013

You know all about Bad Cop's label, Jeffery Drag Records, of course. I mean,

we told you all there is to know about 'em

. Well, they've got a summer sampler, and while it features previously released tracks, they're all good tunes from some Cream faves — the Cop, the aforementioned Promised Land Sound, Majestico, Natural Child. And hey, it's free. Stream it above or download via

JDR's Bandcamp page

.

Fox Bear Snake, Fox Bear Snake

Like dirty, drawling, crawling, muddy, blues-rooted Southern rock? Well then try Fox Bear Snake on for size. Recorded at The Bomb Shelter, Fox Bear Snake's eponymous debut will likely wind its way around your neck and squeeze, like the roots of an old cypress tree or some revenge-seeking swamp monster. Get after it above, or download it for $8 at

the FBS Bandcamp page
