Perhaps the truest testament to pop-Americana duo The Civil Wars’ sonic singularity is in how the pair effortlessly recasts cover songs in their own maudlin, antebellum image. Fans familiar with the band’s live renditions of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” or Smashing Pumpkins’ “Disarm” (yes, really) already know this. Peep the video above, wherein the band busks out a subway-style (or tube-style, if you prefer) version of The Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back,” to see for yourself. The clip was captured by Allister Ann during the duo’s UK tour last spring. That band posted that shit on YouTube this morning. And now we’re reposting it! Impressed? I thought so.
