Hey,
this showis tonight and should be fun if you like fun shows.
The duo of Derek Miller and Alexis Krauss hasn’t released a follow-up to their fawned-over debut album, but as for their local fanbase, they’ve still got everyone who couldn’t squeeze into their last show left to baptize. That show, at The End, was literally on the verge of bursting — as in, I could actually feel the outer wall start to bow as I was pressed against it by a feral, ecstatic crowd. An unabashed presentation of their thrashy, speaker-shredding electro-shock jock-jams, Sleigh Bells’ last Nashville appearance was everything you’d expect from the band that made Treats, and even more fun. Seeing them in the capacious Cannery Ballroom means a bigger gym for Krauss’ demented pep rally, and that’s a good thing. Speaking of follow-ups to fawned-over records, CSS’ new one, La Liberacion, won’t be out until August, but if you’ve got a pulse you’ll probably still be just fine dancing away to familiar cuts like “Let’s Make Love and Listen to Death From Above.”
Last time they rolled through,
I interviewed Alexis Kraussand asked her if Derek Miller is a good waiter or not, among other things. I also asked her about future collaborations: "If the right person comes along, and the right opportunity presents itself," she said, "we'll be there."
She wasn't kidding?Anyway, "Infinity Guitars" is still the best Sleigh Bells video because it looks the way the song sounds: pretty stuff and tough stuff, in no particular order, until there's a bunch of fire:
