It's time for the tornado-party edition of Party & Bullshit! This is going to be a quick one, because we need to batten down the hatches at the P&B party bunker and make sure all of the stacks of vinyl don't go flying away. (If that happened we'd need to change the name of the column to just "Bullsh*t," 'cuz we all know there's no party without vinyl.) Anyway, first order of business:
Strange Arrange! It's the latest project from Courtney 'Coko Corrine' Eason — the brains behind last year's hugely successful
Soundtrack Beat Battle— and it's probably one of the coolest variations on the battle-of-the-bands concept I've ever heard about. Basically, bands from all over the country are coming to town on July 14 to do live, on-the-spot arrangements for vocal tracks for some of today's biggest urban hits. That sounds like a serious challenge and should make for a pretty entertaining evening. Also, is there anything better than live-band hip-hop? No. No, there is not. You can peep all the deets for entry and attendance over at the
Strange Arrange website.
Now, let's get on to the partying and bullshitting before the wind carries us away ...
