Last we heard from Franklin, Tenn.-bred emo-pop sensations Paramore, they were playing
their big (if somewhat undersold) homecoming show at Nashville's Bridgestone Arenain November. "It’s just a really cool town to come back home to," frontwoman
Hayley Williams told our own Adam Goldin advance of the show. "I really don’t know that I would ever love any other city the way that I love Nashville."
Williams & Co. returned to their hometown back in December to shoot a video for the tune "Ain't It Fun," and you can watch that above. As you'll see, the Sophia Peel-directed clip features the band breaking a series of world records, arbitrary (and mildly dubious) as some of them may be — "longest scream while riding in a convertible" and "longest time spinning vinyl record on finger" and so forth. Well, if you think you can do better, the band has invited you to do so: Visit their Record Setter page to challenge all of their records. I'm fairly certain that someone at a slumber party somewhere has beaten that "fastest time to unwrap a mummy" record.
Anyway, as for the tune itself, while it has a bit of the snarly attitude you might associate with pop punk or emo pop or whatever you'd like to call it, I think, sonically, it lands somewhere between Amy Grant and Rhythm Nation-era Janet. Nothing wrong with a bit of unabashed pop, if that's your thing. Now, skip on after the jump to see some raw, silly footage of Williams and her cohorts going for those records.
