If you follow local pop music, you might've noticed Liza Anne's name popping up more and more over the past year. There was a feature in the Chicago Tribune. Then a track premiere via NPR Music. She even came up a couple times in the Scene's annual rock 'n' roll poll as an artist to keep an eye on. It looks like the Georgia native, who relocated to Nashville just a few years ago, is gathering some real steam, and given the performance you can watch above, it's warranted.
Liza Anne — full name Liza Anne Odachowski — will release her third LP, Fine but Dying, March 9 via Arts & Crafts. The first single from the record is "Paranoia," a well-crafted pop number that sports some striking guitar flourishes and a pretty earwormy vocal hook. Last night, Liza Anne and band played the tune on Conan, and you can watch that via the embed above. The singer has fetched comparisons to fellow strong-voiced, psych-skewing rock artists Waxahatchee and Angel Olsen. See if you agree. As he is wont to do, the Cone Man himself gushed a bit over the performance, calling it both "fantastic" and "great."
Liza Anne and band are hitting the road quite a bit this spring, and their tour will hit Third Man Records on April 19. Tickets to that are available here.
