Sunday night, Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus made their first live appearance as the trio boygenius at the Ryman, and the significance of the moment went beyond the emotional heft of their songs. "The trio’s live debut feels like tracing the start of a movement, in which women stop giving a shit about rules or being polite and start making their own damned dreams come true," wrote The Spin.
The group carried that momentum to television on Monday, when they performed on Late Night With Seth Meyers. In the video above, watch them play "Me & My Dog," on which Bridgers takes the lead vocal, with support from their full band as the intimate verses swell up into anthemic, cathartic choruses. Note the addition of pins on their jackets and the head on the bass drum reminding folks to vote. Here, the trio uses their opportunity in the spotlight (hopefully not their last) to help make others feel more powerful and less like moving to space with their pets. (By the way, if you haven't been to the polls yet, here's our guide to everything on the ballot.)
