The Black Keys at Easy Eye Sound Studio with engineer Allen Parker
Last week, Ohio-bred and Nashville-residing blues-rockers The Black Keys surprised us with the single "Lo/Hi," Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney's first new release since their 2014 LP Turn Blue. That led to all kinds of speculation: Will there be an album? A tour? Are they gonna headline Pilgrimage?
One question was answered Tuesday — no, they will not be playing Pilgrimage. Today, we get the answer to another of those questions: There will indeed be a 31-date cross-country tour of arenas called the Let's Rock Tour, and it'll roll through Music City on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The Keys will play Bridgestone Arena with support from Modest Mouse (who plays the whole tour) and *repeat repeat, who will open several of the tour's shows following the release of their new LP Glazed, which Carney produced.
Tickets go on sale Friday, March 22, at 10 a.m. at this link. Prices haven't been announced just yet. There is also a Ticketmaster Verified Fan program that will give you early access to tickets, which you'll be able to learn more about right here.
Other shows will be opened by other acts that the Keys' members have worked with individually since they last worked together. Auerbach produced Shannon and the Clams' Onion and frontwoman Shannon Shaw's Shannon in Nashville and released both in 2018 through his Easy Eye Sound label; the full band will be on several dates. Carney has produced Phase, the solo LP by former Muddy Magnolias singer Jessy Wilson that's set for release in May, and she will open another set of dates.
There's still one question that remains unanswered: Is "Lo/Hi" our first look at a new full-length project from The Black Keys? We'll have to wait and see.
