Tay Keith at the 66th Grammy Awards, Feb. 4, 2024
Memphis hitmaker Brytavious Lakeith Chambers, better known as Tay Keith, was found dead in his Nashville home on Thursday afternoon. Metro Nashville Police confirmed his death after performing a welfare check on his apartment. No cause of death has been announced.
The 29-year-old was a soaring talent who produced a No. 1 hit with Travis Scott — 2018's “Sicko Mode” — during his last year as a student at MTSU. After he graduated, Keith continued to work with Scott and produced other chart-topping tracks with Drake and Sexyy Redd, as well as a batch of Memphis-based rappers, especially close friend BlocBoy JB.
The Grammy-nominated producer founded the label Drumatized with Cambrian Strong, who is also based in Nashville, and the two were named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for their efforts. Drumatized sought to uplift Black musicians across genres. Keith was named one of the top 25 producers of the 21st century by Billboard in 2025.
