Back in the spring, word went out that Shania Twain, one of the best-selling artists of all time in any genre — and whose ’90s pop country hits like "Any Man of Mine" and "That Don't Impress Me Much" still come to mind as readily as "Strawberry Fields" — would release Now, her first LP in 15 years, on Sept. 29. The debut single, "Life's About to Get Good," landed in June, and it felt like it would be perfect as the centerpiece for a new arena show, like the one The Spin caught on Shania's 2015 "final" tour.
Looks like we got our wish: Twain appeared on The Late Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Wednesday night, where the host announced that she has a tour on the books for 2018. Her website lists a tour stop in Nashville on July 21 at a venue TBA — Bridgestone is a likely candidate, though there's always a possibility that she'll go for a stadium gig. Tickets haven't hit Ticketmaster yet, but according to the site, you'll get access if you go ahead and buy a tour T-shirt.
Following the announcement, we got a little taste of the record and, potentially, the tour. Backed by a group whose aesthetic faintly echoes the "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" band (which, in case you weren't around at the time, flips the script on Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love"), Shania romped through Now's "Swingin' With My Eyes Closed," an upbeat tune about living in the moment punctuated by massive choruses and fiddle breakdowns. Check it out above, and preorder a copy of Now right here.
