Other programs feature works by Mozart, Ravel and Beethoven, Russian masters including Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky and Shostakovich, and even Messiaen’s Turangalîla-symphonie, which will spotlight guest appearances from Jean-Yves Thibaudet on piano and Cynthia Millar on the ondes Martenot (a fascinating early 20th century electronic instrument). There’s even a Mahler piece that Mahler champion Guerrero hasn’t conducted before: Das Lied von der Erde, or Song of the Earth, which features songs for two voices adapted from Chinese poems.
There's also the pops series, with appearances by Kristin Chenoweth, The Mavericks and Martina McBride. The jazz series includes a solo evening with Jon Batiste (who's put his considerable chops to work leading the house band for Stephen Colbert on The Late Show) as well as a show from the Branford Marsalis Quartet. And there's more. See the full season below, and check nashvillesymphony.org for tickets.
