American Legion Post 82 in Inglewood has been an East Nashville institution for decades. In addition to its role in the veteran community, it’s been a social hub for a wide range of Nashvillians (thanks in part to Honky-Tonk Tuesday Nights, which recently moved over to Eastside Bowl) and has been a touchstone for many, many local musicians as well. The time has come for the Legion to make a significant upgrade to its P.A., and one of said local players is lending a hand: Jack White.
Hot on the heels of the surprise release of his new LP — packaged to resemble a white-label test pressing and nonchalantly slipped into the shopping bags or mailed packages of Third Man Records customers on July 19 —White will (ahem) post up at the Legion on Saturday, July 27, and proceeds will go to the Legion’s sound-system fund. Will White be playing only material from the new album (whose official title hasn’t been announced, though the labels read “No Name”)? Will he go into acoustic mode for this intimate gig? Or something completely different? Only one way to find out. The show kicks off at 5:30 p.m., giving you plenty of time to get over to Eastside Bowl to see Third Man signees Be Your Own Pet (more on their show in Thursday’s Scene, by the way).
To get a ticket for White’s gig, you’ll need to sign up here to receive a code. Per an Instagram post from Third Man, that will allow you to get in line to buy a ticket when they go on sale Friday, July 26, at 10 a.m. Central.
