A Funky Cupid Causes a Ruckus in Eric Slick’s ‘Over It’ [Fresh Vid]

If you’ve ever had the feeling that whoever’s responsible for guiding romantic relationships might not be totally on the ball, you’re not alone. In the newest music video for “Over It,” a track from Eric Slick’s new avant-pop LP Wiseacre, a mega-hip Cupid makes the job of getting people to fall in love look like a lot of fun. (And he looks pretty sharp doing it, too.) But he soon finds out it’s a lot harder of a job than he thinks.

Director Demi Adejuyigbe, who you might know as a comedy writer whose credits include The Good Place — or as the guy who makes sure we never forget the 21st night of September, per Earth Wind & Fire — stars as said funky love guru. As the song unfolds, he bops and breakdances his way through his day, shooting soft-tipped arrows at folks to kindle a spark of attraction. But as anyone who’s been in a relationship knows, the initial excitement is only one part of what makes love work. Before long, things begin to go awry in a delightful and sophisticated display of physical comedy, and our hero finds himself running for his life.
